The party, now armed with information, began an investigation of their own into the murders. Leogold and the party make their way to the Memorial square to pick up the second half of their reward from Albert and Turk only to discover that both the Elvish and Dwarf delegation have left the town.
Syxen paid his respects for the young girl and her family as her memorial was taking place. He saw two young boys arguing with the recently deceased girl’s mother and he discovered that one of the boys was the brother of the deceased girl. The party later split up to try and accomplish different goals:
Kendy and Deathsap found their way into the Mayoral Mansion in an attempt to speak with Mayor Wyn. They were stopped short when the mentioned the Elvish delegation to one of the Mayor’s guards. Deathsap used a smoke-bomb and some pixie dust to allow him and Kendy to escape into the Mayor’s office and uncover important documents regarding numerous issues currently plaguing the town.
Dara, Foopooz, Syxen, and Leogold begin gathering clues and deduce that the creature they are hunting is a Jackalwere who can change shape into whatever humanoid creature it sees allowing it be the same size. They make their way back to the other two members who narrowly escape capture and they all agree to speak with the mother of the deceased girl.
Syxen had agreed to help her stop her young son from doing anything foolish and during the visit to the family home he uncovers a map of an ancient opening for merchants traveling into Damascus. The party then take off in pursuit of the two young boys and have a location for the Jackalwere.
Once the party has ventured deep enough into the forest, escaped combat with a savage hawk, and pinpoint the location of the two foolish boys they confront them and convince them to head home.
The entrance into the hidden merchant passage is dark and seems possibly filled with traps; the party makes their way through two rooms easily, but on the third room of this passage a slime falls onto Leogold and a battle ensues. The party expertly dispatches the slime and proceeds to search for the Jackalwere’s lair.
A small opening leads to a lower level in which Deathsap kills three Hunting Wolves single-handedly, and allowed the party enough time to come down into the second floor. The Jackalwere confronted the party with his small pack of new minions and rushed them head on. The party easily kills the Jackalwere with Leogold leading the charge and Dara placing the final blow with an arrow between the eyes.
The party gained a hunting wolf due to Dara’s ability to feel the emotions of wild beasts, and two paths set before them:
One leading back outside into the woods of Egar
Another leading deeper into the passage towards Damascus
